This week saw the Vikings visit Rushden Community College for the first round of the league cup. The mistakes made last week were soon rectified and it wasn’t long before we had taken the lead through a great shot from Oliver who netted his first goal. The forwards this week made up for some indifferent performances last week to show the growing Gladiators crowd that they were both back on fire. Reagan had taken a knock in training but this didn’t show when he riffled the Gladiators next 2 goals. Jack not to be out done battled with the defenders and out paced them to score the next two. Half time score 5 – 0.

The second half started pretty much how the first half finished with SRJFC on top. But then the unthinkable happened!!!! The Gladiators conceded their first goal of the season when the defence was slightly over run and left a player at the far post to score giving Matthew no chance. This seemed to wake the boys up and it wasn’t long before a good run by Danny who crossed to the far post, where Aaron was on hand to tap in the 6^th. The 7^th soon followed when a power driver from Nathan didn’t give the Vikings keeper any chance. Although we had other chances the score finished 7 – 1 and has put is into the next round of the cup.

The all round team performance from defending to attack was good again today with the man of the match being given to Oliver for his all round hard work while defending and supporting the forwards.

Bring on Ise Lodge next week for our 1^st round County Cup match.
