Eagles nose dive to defeat
Team
The first round of the NFA Junior cup today put us up against a 10 men
Eagles team at our old home ground at South End. It was important that
we got out of the blocks quick and we certainly did that and dominated
the match from start to finish.
The goals came thick and fast in the first half with Reagan scoring two,
Josh getting his first goal with a long range shot, Matthew heading in
from another corner, Jack poaching another, Aaron getting on the end of
another corner and Danny scoring two making the half time score 8 nil.
The second half was slightly more disappointing as our flowing football
was hampered, as all players wanted to get onto the score sheet by
shooting when an easier ball would have been to find an unmarked team
mate. Although we did manage to get two more goals with Jack getting his
second when he battled well and out muscled the defender to find the
corner of the net and again Josh got his second with another rocket from
way outside the box.
I have awarded the man of the match award to Scott today for his all
round attacking and determination. His play today epitomized every thing
we did well and he did everything except score, which is not important
as we seem to be scoring goals from all areas of the field. Other
noticeable performance came from Josh, Matt and Danny.
Well done boys, back to
league action next week against Wellingborough. Let’s give them more of
the same next week.
