With the game called off last week it was important to get another good result under our belts before Christmas.

We started the game very positively and it wasn’t long before our first chances came and went but we persevered and the break through came with some good interchangeable passes down the right wing with Scott crossing for Jack to get his 1st goal. Not sure what part of his body the ball came off but I would like to say that it came off his head!! (Is that OK Jack?) 1-0.

The 2nd goal soon arrived when some more great passing saw the ball fall to Scott who made no mistake and he powered the ball home, 2-0. The defence was again solid and didn’t give the Eagles any opportunities to trouble Tom.

The 2nd half saw the Gladiators hunt down the Eagles and with relentless pressure the 3rd goal was scored by Jack who passed the ball past the advancing keeper, 3-0. The 4th followed when another great corner taken again by Nathan found the head of Ross and he scored his first SRJFC goal. The celebration saw the Gladiators all pile on top of Ross, 4-0. Jack went hunting for his hat trick and it arrived when he held of several defenders before riffling the ball high and fast past the goalkeeper, 5-0.

As we pushed forward we left ourselves a little open at the back and it was left to Matthew to make two great saves, these saves were extra special as being a Gladiators Goalie they are not called upon very often, so have to keep there wits about them at all times.

This was another all round great team performance as the goalies and defenders were solid, the midfield tenacious and the forwards always on the prowl.

Well Done Boys

Ian
