Vic Farm Ploughed Down by the Gladiators

Our last game before Christmas took us to Christopher Hatton School to face the Farm. We started very brightly and soon opened the scoring with Reagan chasing a ball over the top and placed the ball past the keeper 1 Nil. The 2nd soon followed when Matt pounced on a ball in the box to riffle home 2 Nil. More chances came and went but it was the Farm who scored the next 2 goals following some panic in the Gladiators defence. It took another goal from Reagan before the break to take us to half time 3 – 2 up. It’s good to see Reagan back to his scoring best this week.

As I am writing this report a week later, I am struggling with the finer details of all the goals and how they went in. But here goes, our 2nd half performance was all round much better and our goals were scored by Matt, Oliver, Scott and Ross giving the Gladiators a comfortable win. The outstanding performance and man of the match award this week goes to Scott as he worked hard up and down the wing not only creating chances but also working back to defend for the team. (Well done Scott).

So the boys have had a good first half to the season and we are sitting 3rd in the table, 1 point behind the leaders with 2 games in hand. It is all down to the boys now to make sure they continue to work hard and encourage each other so that the team spirit stays high and I’m sure we will get our rewards at the end of the season.

Tony, Rob and I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas.  We hope 2010 brings us the success we are working towards. Not too many selection boxes boys as we still have our hardest games to come. Enjoy the break and come back in the New Year ready to do business.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Ian
