South Rushden Jaguars vs South Rushden Panthers

Saturday 19^th September. Irchester

The Jaguar’s first game of the new Weetabix League Season brought their first local derby with a home game against the Panthers.

The Jaguars started with Josh Y. in goal with Nathan and Tom in defence, Ollie and Daniel in midfield and Carter up front.

A fast moving encounter started with some end to end exchanges with both teams creating some half chances. The first half took a decisive turn when the Panthers took the lead scoring two goals in quick succession. The first came from David Hunter and the second from Louis Boot. The Jaguars continued to push for a goal, creating several chances with Daniel, Ollie and Carter all going close. However, solid Panther’s defending and good goal keeping by Henry Way kept them at bay.

The second half saw Tom and Daniel after solid first half performances, being replaced by Josh L. and Finlay. The Jaguars continued to create a series of half chances with Carter and Ollie both unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Strong performances in defence by Nathan and Josh L. supported by Finlay and later Daniel in midfield limited the Panthers to only half chances in the second half. Josh Y. also making an excellent save during a Panther’s attack.

Only good defending and a continued excellent goal keeping display by Henry Way kept the Jaguars at bay as they continued to press for an opening goal of their season. An excellent match played in a good competitive spirit.

The Jaguars should be proud of a great first match with good performances from everyone. And best of all it is only a week to the next derby……BRING ON THE Puma's.
