South Rushden Rhinos V Raunds Town (10/10/09)

 SQUAD:

Micheal Childs, Phillip Hughes, Liam Pilcher, William Turner, Scott Simms, Connor Love, Logan Fisher, Harry Stoner, Harry Richardson, Lewis Groves.

There will be few teams that can boast a better scoring record than the Rhinos over the last two games. With 17 goals now scored in their last two matches the Rhinos are performing like a well oiled machine, however they were made to work for this result which made it all the more rewarding as they had to come from behind to claim victory over a resilient Raunds team.

With the squad rotation policy coming into play it took the Rhinos longer than usual to find their momentum and they quickly found themselves 2-0 down with only five minutes on the clock. However the Rhinos remained positive and started to play their way back into the game and their pressure was rewarded with a goal from Harry Stoner half way through the first half only for Raunds to reply immediately with a goal against the run of play.

With the half time whistle looming Lewis Groves who was deputising in goal made a fantastic save from a low and powerful strike down to his left hand side which kept the Rhinos in with a chance as they went into half time.

This really was a game of two halves and the Rhinos emerged from their half time team talk full of enthusiasm and raring to go and fifteen minutes later they had completed an amazing comeback scoring six second half goals and conceding none in return.

The Man Of  The Match Award deservedly went to Logan Fisher who lived up to his ‘Fox in the box’ nickname with 4 clinical second half strikes, Connor Love bagged an impressive double, Harry Stoner scored his second of the game before Phillip Hughes nipped in at the back post to finish off a great team move with his first goal of the season.

What a match this turned out to be, not only for both sets of players for playing their part in such a thrilling encounter but for the coaches and spectators of both teams who probably went home as exhausted as the players after witnessing such an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable match.

Well Done Boys !!!

Thanks to Stuart Simms for the report
