South Rushden Rhinos V Finedon Vics (03/10/09)

SQUAD: Michael Childs, Phillip Hughes, Liam Pilcher, William Turner, Scott Simms, Connor Love, Logan Fisher, Harry Stoner, Harry Richardson, Lewis Groves.

The Rhinos responded to their disappointing result two weeks previous with a solid team performance with all squad members playing their part in what finished an impressive team performance.

Straight from the whistle the Rhinos went on the offensive and had already created a couple of chances by the time Scott Simms opened the scoring after 5 minutes, Harry Stoner then struck twice in quick succession before Logan Fisher struck from close range after some impressive build up play.

Michael and Phillip shared the goalkeeping duties and were both solid when called upon, Harry Richardson and Lewis Groves both had good games in defence and were rarely troubled as the Rhinos moved the ball well and continued to create chances.

With Man of the Match Liam Pilcher and Scott working well up the flanks, William Turner and Harry Stoner controlling the midfield, and the movement of Connor Love and Logan Fisher causing problems in attack it wasn’t long before the Rhinos scored again.

Connor continued his rich vein of form with two clinical strikes and after William, who was unlucky not to get on the score sheet himself, had forced the goalkeeper into fine saves on three separate occasions in quick succession Logan completed his brace with a neat near post finish.

Finedon did manage to pull back a consolation goal but it was all too little, too late and with the full time whistle looming Harry Stoner completed his hat-trick and the match honours deservedly went to South Rushden.
