Wellingborough Town 2 - South Rushden Spartak 2
 
After a significant break the boys are back and raring for a game. The starting line up was Lewis, Big Mac, Captain Connolly, Joe, Connor and Harry. Spartak have the kick off, but the ball is quickly stolen by WT and they have an early shot, but it goes wide. From the goal kick Louis reaches Connor who passes to Liam, who finds Joe who gets challenged and the ball goes out for a throw. From the throw WT attack but Big Mac intercepts and gets the ball to Harry who clears and the ball is out for a throw. From the throw Connor puts a great ball through to Joe who finds Harry. Harry goes down the wing and makes a great cross to the back post to Joe, but the shot is blocked and goes out for a corner. From the corner Joe puts over a great floated ball and Harry heads the cross over. WT take a short goal kick and the WT attack up the wing, but Liam puts in a fierce challenge and the ball goes out for a Spartak throw. From the throw Spartak advance but the ball goes out for a goal kick .From the goal kick the ball goes up the pitch, but James makes a great clearance which goes all the way through to the keeper the keepers clearance is only as far as Joe who shoots and hits the far post. The ball is cleared by WT but goes out for a throw. Liam takes the throw and it’s cleared for another throw. From the throw WT attack and have a shot and although Louis has had little to do he makes a great save, but WT pick up the loose ball and score, making the score 1-0. The coach makes a change and on comes Evan and Kyle for Harry and Joe. From the kick off Connor gets the ball and presses forward and wins a corner on the far side (their right). Liam takes the corner and puts a great ball into the box, the ball is half cleared and the ball falls to Evan and then Connor and a scramble ensues. Kyle has a shot and the ball is cleared by WT out for a throw. Liam takes the throw to Big Mac who passes back to Liam, who passes up the pitch. WT clear the ball but Big Mac launches the ball into the WT half and it goes out for another Spartak corner. Evan cleverly drives the corner low into the box but the ball is cleared to Liam who shoots through the crowded penalty area and hits the post! The ball is cleared, only as far as Evan, who puts a ball through only to be cleared by the WT defence, who clear for a Spartak throw. Spartak attack and the ball goes out for a goal kick. The play is confined to the middle of the pitch for the next few minutes until Connor puts a great ball through to Evan who finds Kyle on the edge of the box. Kyle swerves and moves the ball onto his right foot and shoots. The ball goes hard and low into the net, GOAL! The score is now 1-1.  Shortly after the whistle blows for half time, the score is 1-1.
 
The second half  sees some changes to the team and the line up is now James, Harry, Kyle, Louis, Connor, Evan and Joe. WT has the kick off and Spartak get struck in straight away, but WT attack and James defends well putting the ball out. From the throw WT attack and again James is there to intercept and puts the ball out for a corner. The WT corner goes straight out. From the goal kick James launches the ball up into the WT half and it goes out. From the throw Joe goes down the wing and passes to Harry but Harry is challenged and it goes out. From the throw WT attack and the ball goes out for another WT corner. Again from the corner the ball goes out.  James takes the goal kick again, but WT attack once more, Connor puts in a great challenge and it goes out. From the throw WT attack and get another corner. WT take the corner and the ball just squeezes in just by the front post and the score is 2-1 to WT. Just before the lick off, the coaching team make two final changes with Liam and Big Mac coming on for as Kyle and Connor. From the kick off WT attack again, but James is there to clear the ball out.  From the throw the ball goes to Evan who finds Big Mac and the boys are advancing and passing well. Big Mac finds Harry on the left who goes on a run and has a cross/shot and the WT keeper can’t hold the ball and it goes in to make the score 2-2. Straight from the kick off the boys push on and Joe goes down the right beats two players, but the ball goes out . From the throw the boys pressure the WT goal but the ball goes out for a goal kick. Big Mac intercepts the goal kick and passes up the pitch. The ref blows for a WT free kick. From the free kick James intercepts and passes to Joe who runs down the wing and he passes to Evan. Evan is challenged but goes out for a Spartak throw. Liam takes the throw and Evan goes on a run but is tackled the ball breaks loose and James passes it to Evan who goes on another run, but the ball goes out for another Spartak throw. From the throw Spartak pepper the WT goal with crosses and shots and they are all scrambled clear. Spartak win a corner and Joe crosses high and the WT defender handles in the area and Spartak get a penalty. Joe steps up and hits the ball hard and low, but it goes wide. From the goal kick WT clear but Joe and Harry have shots that are blocked and saved, finally one gets through and the WT keeper drops and then manages to scoop up as the Spartak boys pounce on the loose ball.    From the WT free kick James intercepts, he goes on a run and gets tackled. WT advance, but Big Mac is there to clear any danger. Spartak attack and again and Liam gets the ball to Harry to combines with Joe and Harry gets a shot in and Spartak get a corner. The corner is cleared and Spartak get a throw. Liam takes a throw (a big one) and James heads it on to Joe, Joe gets a shot in, it breaks to Evan who has a go, but the WT defence is resolute. Suddenly WT attack in the dying seconds and they are through 1 on1 with Lewis. Lewis comes out and makes a great save at the attacker’s feet and the ball is safe. Considering Lewis had almost nothing to do all the 2nd half, he was still alert and managed to save what looked like a certain goal.

Lewis takes a quick goal kick and it goes to James. James finds Joe, Joe has a shot the keeper saves and the ball breaks to James who shoots but the ball gets a deflection and goes wide. From the corner the ref blows for full time.
 
Considering the long break all the boys played and passed well on a difficult and tricky pitch. They battled well and really deserved the win, apart from the two momentary lapses that led to the two WT goals, WT were hardly ever in the game and were totally outplayed in the second half.
